The VT Hunter is an all-terrain, open tactical vehicle with a box frame with a self-supporting floor pan that is protected against DM 51 hand grenades and DM 31 anti-personnel mines. The 3.2 liter spur gear-controlled common rail diesel engine is extremely robust with low consumption and can also be operated with L34 (converted kerosene). When all locks of the all-wheel drive transmission are used – front axle/rear axle/central lock – any tension is removed from the drive train through longitudinal compensation. This ensures a long service life of the drive train (high mileage). Thanks to its reduction gear, all torques in the drive train are extremely reduced and do not put any strain on the drive axles and rotating parts (one of the last vehicles with a reduction/transfer case). The VT Hunter can be air-lifted open or closed (C130 – 3 pieces, Chinook transport helicopter – 2 pieces, Blackhawk hanging system – 1 piece). With a towing capacity of 3.5 tons, even heavy trailers or guns can be towed. With a loading weight of 1.1 to 1.5 tons, it offers independence for special operations over long distances for surveillance, reconnaissance, scouting and offensive missions. The VT Hunter’s high off-road capability and speed make it an ideal vehicle for hunting commandos. It is equipped with machine gun mounts in the front and rear areas and a rotating ring mount (mechanical or electrical) with a 12.7 gun mount adapter in the roof area. The machine gun carriage has an ammunition box for 300 rounds of 12.7 ÜSMG ammunition. In addition, an ammunition rack system for up to 2000 rounds is installed on the vehicle (can be customized upon request), as well as two full sets of smoke grenade pots with dual use. There are also 4-6 sand trays with a length of 1.6 m and 3 with a length of 1 meter, which can also be folded down to the side and used as luggage racks or temporary bridge elements, and also offer plenty of space for food, water and luggage. This keeps the interior free of luggage.
The combined system of a VTTV Tactical Vehicle and 4-8 VT Hunter represents an adapted tactic to ensure long ranges and extreme flexibility. At the same time, it can be relocated via airlift, land or water in the shortest possible time with minimal effort.
